New Site Plan moves

1) Mediating strip (pink) to extend across the width of the site. Strip to morph in landscape elements like trelis, covered walkway etc in non-built up zones.

2) Proposed link to DPS to connect with link to the north forming a potentially strong north south thoroughway.

3) Residential block brought closer to the edge of the road with the front part on stilts. Pedestrian path to bifurcate along the residential block with one path linking parts of the three internal courts. Aim is to make the residential component more inclusive.

  1. mediating strip - why? seems a bit like taking a good idea too far and diluting its goodness.
    points 2 & 3 - great.

  3. I think its a good idea- it can set the basis for organising movement and gives a covered route all through the site, something which will actually generate pedestrian movement through the site (which we want) and increase the chances of random interactions.

note the covered walk straight through the heart of the campus...this has been cited as one of the masterpieces of design for a hot tropical climate...and this guy did it back in the 60's!

  5. the link can stay end to end.. good to have an architectural element tying movement together. only thing is, let's call the building wala bit a 'mediating facade'. covered walkways etc stays, but we just don't chepo the mediating concept on to it.
