Production Costing

Panels: method – high-resolution vinyl print on ninety micron vinyl, machine heat-pressed and pasted on 4 mm thk sunboard. This entire method is machined, based on high-resolution pdf file inputs. I use this system for my museum artwork and panels, and the colours, resolution etc are good for many years. This is a 3 colour process that converts from a CMYK input via a pantone process, so colour integrity is certified.

Cost: usually Rs 300 per sq ft. I have negotiated it down to Rs 250 per sq ft.

Our project – 15 A1 sized panels

One A1 sheet  ~ 23.5" X 34" ~ 800 sq inches ~ 5.6 sq ft

15 A1Panels ~84 sq ft

Factoring 10% wastage ~ 90 sq ft

Cost for all panels = INR 22,500.00

Model:

Modeler quote for basic model structural work of following specs:

1.       A0 sized model

2.       Contours in white sunboard

3.       Tree fabrication and supply

4.       Building blocks

5.       Paving/road water standards

6.       2" thk base

7.       2 mm thk acrylic casing

8.       Inclusive of material and workmanship

9.       Etc

INR 35,000.00

Model 'fine' work by student level modellers – including materials and workmanship

INR 12,500.00

TOTAL in INR = 70,000.00

Adding about 2,500 for last day jiggery pokery and emergency trucking/challans/etc

Total 72,500.00

Voila! About a thousand pounds [GBP 1,000.00]

Assuming the financial stake-holders are the following people [Alphabetic first-names]:

1.       Amit Sarma

2.       Atul Lakra

3.       Gaurav Sharma

4.       Jaya Garela

5.       Shibani Bose

6.       Uttiya Bhattacharya

And non financial stakeholder with a student discount being

1.       Sharat Kaicker

I am calculating my contribution as ~ GBP 167.00

The remainder Moolah of GBP 833.00 is something that Agent Sarma needs to bring back with him when he joins forward command. Preferably brought in a black briefcase handcuffed to his wrist.

The transfer protocol is as follows:

[Agent B is wearing dark glasses, standing at IGI airport arrival terminal. Whistling tunelessly the song 'Spanish Harlem'. Sees Agent S wearing similar dark glasses stepping out of arrival gates, tired after a long flight]

Agent B: Hey!

Agent S: Hi! Can I see the site-plan?

Agent B: Wrong password! [pulls out gun and shoots the fake agent S square between the eyes. Policemen in uniform appear, load the body in the back of a Gypsy and speed away to dispose of it. Agent B continues waiting, looking at the arrival gates, and whiles on tonelessly]

[The real agent S appears, wearing dark glasses, , tired after a long flight]

Agent B: Hey!

Agent S: Hey Hey!

[They both shake hands, money changes hands, and they step into a waiting chopper and are whisked off deep into the jungles of Mehrauli, where the top-secret FCP of Ops P.O. is located]

PS: Liquidity and cash-flow requirement is something I can provide in the interim. The fees for that will be the princely sum of a bottle of Scotch

  3. Revised Model negotiated cost as of this afternoon - INR 29,750.00

Revised panel cost on a down-spec from another vendor @ 275.00 per sq ft

INR 2,500.00 for last day jiggery-pokery expended with

Budgeting not more than INR 5,000.00 for student modeller support

    total saving so far = 5,250.00 + 2,500.00 + 7,500.00 + (25*90=2,250)= 17,500.00

More down-negotiations attempted on panel printing, but do not get hopes up.

total resultant estimate till date @ INR 55,000 = GBP 759 approx.

trying to get it lower, but am reaching end of economic factors vs persuasion skills.
